A telegram was received by Mr. and Mrs. Luther Fine Monday morning, stating that their son George had been killed in the Pacific area.

Geo. Fine is Killed in Action
Mrs. Leona Fine of Pixley, has received word that her husband, Pfc. George E. Fine, was killed in action on Luzon Island, June 21, 1945.
Fine was 22 and had entered the army February 3, 1942. He was in the 99th Field Artillery Battalion of the First Cavalry Division. He had served for 25 months in the south Pacific, including Australia, New Guinea, Admiralty Islands, Samar, Leyte and Luzon.
Fine is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther R. Fine, Akron, Colo. Two brothers, Ralph and Harry, reside in Pixley. Clyde, another brother, is living in Akron, Colo. Two other brothers are in the armed forces, Frank on Okinawa and Elery in Germany.
